Notoriously (or perhaps just personally) the transition between Summer and Autumn is one of the hardest times of year for putting together stylish outfits. It can also be one of the best excuses for a little bit of imagination and creativity.
The weather is slightly cooling down, but not really enough to warrant full winter gear, so you try to dress in Autumnal shades and pieces, and end up sweating when the weather still somehow reaches 24 degrees, even though it’s cloudy and raining.
Another problem - it’s surprisingly difficult to style 70s bohemian pieces when the weather gets colder!
The boho look is usually associated with summer, and festival season, and long hot days on the beach. So, when the temperature lowers, it becomes tricky to express your own personal style and still stay weather-appropriate.
The solution: layering.
Layering is a delicate art, so we’ve decided to take some time this week to walk you through a little style guide of layering some of our more summery pieces - most of which are up to 50% off on our website right now!
We had a super fun time on Monday afternoon, roping our dear Jasmine into modelling three looks for you, to hopefully inspire you into layering some of your summery All About Audrey favourites this September.
I must give credit where credit’s due, and tell you that a lot of the inspiration for these outfits came from our beloved style icon, Audrey, who frequently finds new and unique ways to layer our pieces throughout Autumn.
Look One: The Emmylou Skirt
For the first look, we chose one of my personal favourite pieces, the Emmylou skirt.
The maxi skirt is key to any chic Autumnal look - it can be paired with tights for an extra layer, or with some boots to elevate the look.
A piece typically used during summer, this maxi is a wrap skirt with ribbon ties, and a patchwork floral print of deep reds and greens. The skirt itself is perfect for long hot days on the beach, but the tones of this variation are calling for an Autumnal energy, so it would be a shame to let it go to waste.
We’ve looked at the deep wine red, and reached for one of our newest vintage knit cardigans of the same shade. This adds a layer of much needed warmth to the look, and an effortlessly cool bohemian energy with its shabby chic patchwork.
Next, we draped one of our skinny mandala scarves around Jasmine’s neck - in no way are we going to claim that this little number will be protecting you from the cold, but it certainly will give the look an additional splash of pizzazz.
Finishing off the look, we accessorised with some of our bold, round, 70s sunglasses for that low Autumn sun, and some staple chunky gold hoops.

Look Two: The Martha Dress
For look two, we took an underrated piece of ours - the Martha dress.
Martha is a floaty 100% cotton vintage-inspired daydream. With short flowing sleeves, v-neckline and semi-structured bodice, she is a flattering dress to spruce up any occasion.
The specific tones of this variant in particular simply scream the changing of the seasons, in a deep midnight navy blue, with sweet little pink florals.
We’ve elevated the look to a new level by layering one of our iconic, beloved Antoinette corsets, and its hazy vintage inspired florals perfectly compliment the look, to take it from just a dress, to a thoughtfully curated outfit.
The Jemima bag in antler brown is one of our all time favourites, perfect for a stroll about town to grab a hot chai drink, or maybe even a trip to the pumpkin patch.
To accessorise the look further, we finished off with some of our ornate silver plated earrings, and gold plated rose pendant necklaces, to add a flourish of whimsy.

Look Three: The Dolly Dress
To be totally transparent, this third look is 100% inspired by/stolen from Audrey herself!
In the Autumn months (and all year round), she’s always rocking up to the office in the most inventive looks, and in particular is the queen of layering summer dresses to make them more weather appropriate.
We recently took note of her layering of the Dolly dress with a pair of flared 70s jeans, and simply had to recreate it for you!
We’ve taken the girlish, summery gingham Dolly mini, and paired her with some bell bottom jeans. The jeans in these photos are Jasmine’s own ones, but as you can see below, we have a very similar pair available in our sale right now.
We decided to accessorise with one of our iconic Sierra wide brim hats for a late harvest/farmer girl feel, and some beautifully delicate bohemian shell jewellery.
To carry a vintage knit jumper, Jasmine is sporting the tapestry tote bag - this bag is such a favourite in our office that two of our colleagues actually own them!
The jumper itself can either be worn for chillier evenings, or draped around your shoulders.
