The Venus Tops - A Styling Guide

The Venus Tops - A Styling Guide

Hello loves!

If you’re at all familiar with us here at All About Audrey, you might be familiar with one of our top selling products, and one of our all time iconic favourites - The Venus Top

Our Venus Tops are a 70s inspired, bohemian statement piece - a cropped wrap top that can be worn multiple ways.

With our signature frilled bell sleeves, and flowing fabric that dances in the wind, they’re a bohemian dream for anyone who is endlessly inspired by the dramatic fashion of the 70s, just as our lovely Audrey is with her own wardrobe.

These beauties may seem simple at first glance, but can actually be worn multiple ways, as I’ll exhibit below.

Firstly, the most classical way - the Venus tops have cut-out holes in each side of the bodice, so that they can be wrapped effortlessly to be tied in a bow at the back.

Secondly (my own personal favourite way of styling them) they can be tied in the center into a big bow, for a more sultry, revealing look - either on their own, with a bra, or layered on your favourite neutral top/dress for the perfect bohemian finishing touch to any look.

Third, and possibly most underrated, is wearing the top backwards, as the lovely Annabelle is showing here. This is for those of you who still want the drama of the bell sleeves, but wish to be a little more modest over the chest.

Audrey is endlessly inspired by the ethereal drama and cool effortlessness of 70s fashion, particularly from her ultimate style icon/hero, Stevie Nicks.

I’m sure that if you’re also a fan of fashion from the 70s - which, I’m going to deduce you certainly are if you’re shopping with us - you’re no stranger to Stevie.

Across her personal life and stage performances, she became iconic and instantly recognisable for her draping bell sleeves, ruffles, intricate layering and seemingly effortless edge.

I’ve taken a few iconic looks from her, and created some style guide ideas for you, all based on items that are currently available for you to shop on our website.

Let’s start with the first look - as you can see here, Stevie is channelling the witchiest of energy, with those long, flowing sheer black bell sleeves, a floral patchwork draping a-line midi skirt, and a little black top in the center.

Even if it’s not technically one of our Venus Tops, the closest match we have to this look is our iconic Madonna Top in Storm Black

These Madonna’s were actually directly inspired by this very Stevie look, and Audrey meticulously tuned these for months and months for the perfect fabric and sleeve length to match it as closely as she could. We absolutely adore these tops, and they’re now one of our bestsellers, so you must all love them too!

Our second piece of inspiration is more of an elevated casual look from Stevie. She looks down to earth, and yet still effortlessly cool and powerful with her classic 70s flared jeans, peachy pink wrap top and turquoise jewellery.

So many of the recycled sari Venus Tops we have could be used as a match for this - each are made from 100% recycled vintage Indian sari, and so are utterly unique and one-of-a-kind.

Finish the look off with some figure hugging bell bottom jeans and bangles, and you’re instantly an off-duty 70s rockstar.

Thirdly, this is an iconic, angelic look from Stevie in a full white flowy outfit.

Our closest match to this top Stevie is wearing is our Madonna Top in Angel White, or if you wanted something a little more subtle, we have our beloved Venus Top in White Swan Chantilly Lace

Pair one of these tops with a white tiered skirt (here I have shown our Wendy Skirt), a little white top, and some bohemian shell jewellery, and you’ve got the look.

Thank you so much for reading! I hope that this has inspired you a little, if you have one of our Venus collection pieces or not, in how to style these gorgeous tops to express your individual style.

Until next time…
